Clare Beavan is a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and EMDR Therapist. She is an accredited member with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) the lead organisation for CBT in the UK and is a registered member of the UK and Ireland EMDR Association. Clare graduated from Liverpool University with a BSc in Occupational Therapy in 1996. She has worked in the NHS for over 16 years in different clinical settings until she decided to specialise and pursue her interest in CBT, which lead to her gaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapy.
Clare works with emotional difficulties such as Panic, Agoraphobia, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Health Anxiety, OCD; Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias, Low Self-Esteem, Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Trauma and Work-Related Stress.
Clare chose a career in CBT because it is well supported by research whilst offering the individual the insights and skills to become their own therapist and be able to manage the difficulties that life can bring. She has carried out further training in Compassion Focused Therapy, which compliments CBT by bringing a greater ‘felt sense’ to the alternative meanings that people develop during therapy.’
In her personal time she is a keen tennis player, enjoy films and walking her unruly dog, Eric.
